Architectural style and design in Padstow

Padstow being a coastal town features an eclectic mix of architectural style and design. As an extremely popular seaside resort, it has attracted affluent holidaymakers that have taken up residence and purchased holiday homes in the town and surrounding areas. Design in the construction and refurbishments have been taken from all sorts of influences from London to San Tropez.

Historical Influence

The fishing town has retained a lot of its original features and the main street and surrounds still has over 100 listed buildings of which Prideaux Place, St Petroc’s Church, and Abbey House are the most significant. Prideaux Place took its name from Nicholas Prideaux who built the Elizabethan country house in 1592, where it remained untouched until the 18th century when Edmund, Nicholas’s great-grandson, built a formal garden on the grounds and installed modern sash windows which were influenced by his Tour of Italy in 1739.

Another popular choice of build-in Padstow is an Orangery with Bi-Fold doors that open the whole front or side of the building, a GRP roof with lanterns or skylights, this really extends the home into the beautiful surroundings in Padstow and floods the space with natural light, perfect for entertaining.
